Drains Aid - Employee - Jason Monaghan

This month we would like to introduce you to the newest member of the DrainsAid team, Jason Monaghan, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience of the drainage industry.

Hi Jason, nice to meet you and welcome to DrainsAid! Tell us, what is your role?

I am the new Sales Manager.

And when did you start working at DrainsAid?

At the end of April 2015.

What did you do before DrainsAid?

After leaving school I spent 7 years in The Royal Air Force, after which I worked in senior business development roles at national environmental services companies. More recently I have worked as a consultant and project manager in the property insurance claims management and repairs sector, dealing with flood and fire-damaged properties.

Tell us about a typical day in your role?

My days are varied, however a typical day will involve working on our strategy, identifying opportunities for new business and compiling tenders.

I speak with customers both by telephone and in meetings face-to-face. I am also responsible for marketing and deciding the most effective way of communicating our unique capabilities to prospective and existing customers.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I particularly enjoy developing relationships with our customers and providing a tailored, consultative approach to their requirements. It’s very satisfying when you gain a new customer after going through what can be a challenging and lengthy sales process.

What would you say has been your greatest achievement?

It is still very early in my DrainsAid career, however I am pleased with the initial progress I’ve made with several high profile customers and I look forward to developing long term mutually beneficial relationships with them.

What is the most interesting/difficult job you have worked on at DrainsAid?

I was on site recently with a video crew filming our innovative ‘Spray Lining’ process on manhole chambers in rural North Yorkshire, it was great to see the technology at work and to see first-hand how we take a damaged manhole chamber with water infiltration problems and totally re-furbish it. The mosquitoes and horsefly found our high visibility clothing attractive, but thankfully I only suffered one bite!

What do you like to do with your spare time?

I enjoy music, spending time with my family, the odd glass of red wine and trying to tire-out my 8 month old puppy with long walks!
