Matthew Stableford

Civils operative Matthew Stableford has secured a place in the England Amateur Rugby League squad for their tour to Australia later this year.

Matthew started playing rugby at the age of five at Oulton Raiders ARLFC and secured a two year contract at Leeds Rhinos Academy with a season at Bradford Bulls.

He returned to Oulton Raiders to play in the National Conference League. Three years ago he signed at Hunslet Hawkes (semi-professional) for a season and recently returned to his amateur club to continue his passion for the sport. His commitment and high level of performance was rewarded with trials for the England Community Lions. Following months of trials alongside the best amateur players across the country he has successfully secured a position in the 22 man squad to represent England.

This opportunity will take him across to the other side of the world to play rugby league in Perth, Australia. Well done Matthew and best wishes.
